Shah Rukh Khan helped secure release of Indian navy officers from Qatar?

Bollywood star actor, Shah Rukh Khan on Tuesday refuted rumors that he helped to free eight Indian Navy officers from Qatar, who were sentenced to death.

Former Rajya Sabha member Subramanian Swamy on Tuesday asserted that the Jawan actor was responsible for getting the Qatari government to free eight Indian Navy officials who were being detained on espionage accusations.

Swamy emphasized that it was Shah Rukh who had managed to secure the safe release of detained Indians from Qatar after top officials from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs and National Security Advisor failed to convince Qatar for the release of former Indian Navy officials.

Taking on X, formerly known as Twitter, Subramanian Swamy said, “Modi should take Cinema star Shahrukh Khan to Qatar with him since after MEA and NSA had failed to persuade the Sheikhs of Qatar, Modi pleaded with Khan to intervene and thus got an expensive settlement from the Qatar Sheikhs to free our Naval officers.” Swamy was replying to a post shared by Prime Minister Narendra Modi about his trips to the UAE and Qatar.

Shah Rukh Khan denied Rumors
In a statement, India’s top celebrity, Shah Rukh Khan’s team denied the former BJP leader Subramanian Swamy ‘s claims.

Shah Rukh Khan’s manager Pooja Dadlani shared a statement on Instagram said, “Regarding the reports concerning Shah Rukh Khan’s purported role in the release of India’s naval officers from Qatar, the office of Mr. Shah Rukh Khan says that any such assertions of his involvement are unfounded, emphasizing the execution of this successful resolution solely rests with the Indian government officials and unequivocally denies Mr. Khans participation in this matter.”

“Additionally, all matters involving diplomacy and statecraft are best executed by are very able leaders. Mr. Khan like many other Indians is happy that the naval officers are home safe and wishes them all the best,” the statement added.

It should be noted that, Seven of the eight former Indian Navy officer returned to India from Qatar, who were detained in the Gulf country in an alleged case of espionage in August 2022.
