The World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) has granted the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PM&DC) accreditation, marking a significant milestone.
“Recognition underscores PM&DC’s commitment to ensuring the highest standards of medical education within Pakistan,” the Council stated in a statement on X.

Details indicate that the outstanding achievement of achieving WFME recognized status is valid for ten years. The most recent change has made it possible for all Pakistani students to apply to take the USMLE and ECFMG tests.
It will make it possible for Pakistani medical graduates to pursue additional education and professional practice in nations where WFME recognition is required, such as the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
“We are overjoyed to have received recognition from WFME, which is evidence of our ongoing efforts to raise the nation’s standards for medical education. This accomplishment guarantees that our medical graduates are prepared to satisfy worldwide healthcare standards and creates new opportunities for collaboration, according to PM&DC President Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj.
He continued by saying that Pakistan’s medical education meets international standards thanks to the WFME’s approval. He claims that it will provide Pakistani students the freedom to pursue their careers wherever they choose in the globe.

The PM&DC President sent gratitude to all the teams that contributed hard to this accomplishment, including the International Consultant on Collaboration and Recognition, Mr. Farzand Ali, the PM&DC Council members, the Surgeon General, the Minister of Health, and the NHS&C Secretary of Health.
Additionally, Dr. Rizwan expressed gratitude for the commitment shown by medical schools and hospitals like Army Medical College Rawalpindi, Shifa College of Medicine, Khyber Medical College Peshawar, University of Lahore, Agha Khan Medical University Karachi, and University of Lahore through workshops and inspections during the WFME evaluation.
In addition, he congratulated PM&DC’s whole personnel for their unwavering work toward obtaining this accreditation.
