NORWALK, CT — Il Posto, an Italian restaurant located in the heart of South Norwalk, has closed suddenly, according to management.
A sign indicating Il Posto “has permanently closed” was up at the restaurant Thursday afternoon, and chairs could be seen placed on top of the tables inside.
Il Posto management confirmed Thursday to Patch the restaurant was permanently closed but declined to comment further.
The restaurant’s website was not active as of Thursday, and the restaurant’s last Facebook post was made on April 14.
Located at 122 Washington Street in SoNo, Il Posto offers an “Italian-inspired menu with a New American twist.”
The closure marks a loss in an area of the city that has seen a number of new businesses open in 2024.
Seafood restaurant The Pompano opened at 16 North Main Street in the former Evarito’s space back in April, bringing market-fresh seafood, creative cocktails and a rooftop gathering place to the SoNo dining scene.
Later in the spring, Josie & Tony’s dining club opened a new Arthur Avenue-style gourmet deli at 20 North Main Street.
Cheese & Bread, a casual neighborhood eatery specializing in authentic Georgian cuisine, held its grand opening in June, and Milk N Cookies, an upscale cookie and cereal shop, opened a new location at 8 South Main Street in July.
