The Princess of Wales is receiving chemotherapy, and Kensington Palace has distributed thank-you cards to the people who have expressed their best wishes.
Following her cancer diagnosis, 42-year-old Kate declared in a moving video message at the end of March that she is currently receiving treatment.
The future Queen stated in the video that although her family had had a “very difficult couple of months,” she was “well and getting stronger every day.”
Cards and notes have been sent to Kate by other working royals who have stepped in after the public learned about the Princess’ health issues. They were also sent to the Palace by royal fans.
After learning that Kate was having abdominal surgery in January, one woman wrote a card to Kate wishing her the best and on Saturday, she received a response from the Palace.
The brief card note said, “Thank you for your kind well wishes to Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales.” It was printed on the Palace letterhead.
“Your thoughtful gesture is very much appreciated.”
When royal supporters interact with the palace on significant occasions like Christmas and birthdays, they typically send cards.
It’s remarkable that the postcard was left blank because letters from the Royal Family almost always includes a picture.
Allex Marie thanked the person for the comment on X, which was once known as Twitter and said she would “treasure this my entire life.”
She wrote: “My family and I sent our sincere best wishes for healing and an abundance of love to our beautiful Princess of Wales back in January when we learned she had undergone surgery.”
“Today I received this beautiful acknowledgement and I can honestly say I shall treasure this my entire life.
“The envelope has Kensington Palace on the back lol hubby [sic] thought he was going to have to get his suit out for a garden party (silly him) but he is just as blown away as I am to received this beautiful, and much treasured card.
“Continued prayers and healing to our beautiful Princess of Wales.”
Others who saw the remark also sent their well wishes for Kate’s quick recovery along with their gratitude.
The mother-of-three was the focus of internet conspiracy theories that questioned why she vanished following surgery, even though the palace had earlier in the year said that she needed time to heal from the procedure.
A former Palace aide told PEOPLE that the level of concern for Kate’s health was a “complex reaction.”
They clarified: “There was no malintent. But it unleashed a pent-up feeling that people wanted information — unfortunately, that’s the curse of being a modern royal.”
Following a treatment for an enlarged prostate at the same hospital as Kate in January, King Charles was also given a cancer diagnosis.
The announcement that Charles had been diagnosed with a type of cancer—which, it should be noted, is not prostate cancer—was made public by Buckingham Palace at the beginning of February.
Since then, he has complimented his daughter-in-law on her bravery in disclosing her illness.
According to Buckingham Palace, “His Majesty is ‘so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did.”
“We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace,” the Duke and Duchess of Sussex added.
