My Favourite Sea Food Restaurant Chain Closing Its Restaurants Permanently

More Red Lobster restaurants across the United States, including in New York state, could close if the company is unable to renegotiate leases for those locations, according to bankruptcy documents filed last week.

The filing listed 228 rejected leases it says will keep losing money if they continue operating as they currently do. The list includes at least some of the restaurants Red Lobster has already closed, according to Restaurant Business. The state losing the most restaurants would be Florida, where the company was founded.

Before Red Lobster filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, it listed 87 locations across 27 states as “temporarily” closed. That included the restaurant at 655 Jefferson Road, Henrietta, which is now permanently closed.
The location at 1515 W. Ridge Road in Greece remains open.

The company’s bankruptcy filing in the Middle District of Florida details how Red Lobster has struggled in various ways, including a 30% drop in guests since 2019.
