Cries Lead Teachers To Dog In Georgia Storm Drain, Now ‘Scared Little Guy’ Needs Home

A dog that needed rescuing after getting stuck in a storm drain is now in need of a home, Georgia fire officials said.

Rescuers responded Wednesday, April 26, after a group of teachers called 911 about an animal trapped in a drain near Birney Elementary School in Marietta, according to Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services.

The pup’s whimpers alerted them that something was wrong.

Crews with Squad 7 worked to free the “scared little guy” from the tight space. Authorities didn’t say how long the dog was there or how it became trapped.

“The credit goes to the Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services for rescuing the trapped dog,” a Cobb County Schools spokesperson told McClatchy News. “We are grateful for their quick response and making sure that he can now be put up for adoption with a loving family.”

After Wednesday’s rescue, the dog got a meal and a bath, fire officials said. Those interested in adopting him can contact Cobb County Animal Services for more information.

Marietta firefighters aided in a similar rescue in March after a small dog darted under a car and got stuck in the engine compartment, McClatchy News reported.
